Hi, I need some ideas! My plan is to dig 2 ponds, one large 20x30 12ft deep??? We have a backhoe so that size is not written in stone. Then a second shallow pond uphill, filled with water plants depth, 2 ft maybe (not sure)? This pond will be mainly to water my handfull of small livestock animals. Ill stock with feeder fish maybe larger fish, like catfish? I have 200 watt outdoor industrial solar panels and will buy an appropriate size pump (not sure yet on the size)? I plan on a slow constant transfer of water from one pond to the next. I also plan on lining most of the larger pond with stone witch I already have bc I would like it not to be a muddy mess (we do have ducks). I won't need a pond liner, the land holds water very well and plenty of runoff from a nearby french drain to top it off. The water ponds naturally so perfect spot. My 2 main priorities are very clean water and nonpoison oxygenating plants...LOTS OF EDIBLE PLANTS! Duck weed, cattails, any suggestions, PLEASE! I'm in central NC.
