Hi! So I've had this maiden grass Miscanthus sinensis for about six years .... The first four years it was beautiful with awesome maroon/copper plumes. The past two years it's stopped making plumes. I had heard from a local garden center that it could be grubs in the soil eating the roots. I decided to give it a chance to shoot out some plumes this year and when it didn't, I dug it up to inspect. The roots look fine however when I pulled apart the blades of grass it almost look like mealybugs were infesting the blades. But they aren't mealybugs..... when I look at the photos it looks almost like there are orange specs of something mixed in with the white fuzz. Has anyone seen this before and have any idea what it could be and could this be what is preventing the grass from pluming out?
