Hello, sorry for not responding sooner. It has been a busy few months. I got to spend a little time this past Saturday turning the soil in my raised vegetable beds. The soil in our neighborhood (like most newer neighborhoods in this area) is awful- mostly clay and awful drainage- so I have been using raised beds for my vegetables and flowers when possible.

I've gotten this years beds planned out and am going to try a few new things this year. I will plant parsnips, but I am not sure how they will do. Next weekend, I'll be planting turnips (I really only like the greens and will be giving away the turnip bulbs) and onion sets. At the first of march I'll be putting some seed potatoes in containers and hoping they do well.

I'm trying orach this year and some different varieties of chard.

I'm also trying a couple of brugmansias this year, in large containers.

I managed to get some turnips and parsnips planted this weekend as well as some onion sets. I have never raised parsnips before but I thought I would try them this year. I can’t wait until spring.

Collierville here also! Swiss chard grows fab here and you can even overwinter it if careful...along with spinach and beets. I've been doing raised beds here for over 20 years now. Peas are in and a couple feet tall though behind a bit from other years due to cold.
