To answer your question, while no hardwood floor is truly "scratch proof," thanks to its durable Aluminum Oxide finish, this Acacia floor is very scratch resistant. In terms of wear & tear from pets, it really depends on the grooming/age/activity level of your dog. From what you've described, it sounds as though you've got a pretty active one! With that, you may want to look at a floor that has a bit more surface texture than this one -- maybe one with wire brushing or heavier hand scraping -- as the textures do a nice job of hiding normal wear & tear from pets. Our French Oak Prefinished Engineered floors have a durable matte Aluminum Oxide finish with wire brushing that might be an alternative worth considering. Hope this info helps!
