If you're willing to hire a pest control company, they can handle it. I generally don't care for those companies (they always stop by my house and try to convince me that spiders are evil) but this is something it would be totally worth using them.

You could try applying insecticide around the entrance to the nest (at night when they're less active), but I dunno...

Clearly a job for a professional. They may very well be yellow jackets, a type of wasp.

I have been doing a lot of research on wasps, aand I'm leaning towards yellow jackets. I have read all of these solutions, exterminator too expensive, probably have to come out 2ice or more! Will also destroy house, will have to tear apart. I can let them live their cycle, fall is here, they will dye off, except for the queen and larvae. That's when I will spray an aerosol (not a foam) and hope it reaches the queen(s). Or (THIS is my personal favorite, that makes sense and will work) Crush BORAX into a fine dust and insert into the siding. He problem that I have with this idea is getting a proper tool to do the job. I think the best bottle would be an old style sport water bottle. I thought of a turkey baster, but I think it is too large of an opening for the dust to travel. OOES ANYONE HAVE AN idea on a duster tool, where it will be able to empty the powderi n-to the siding and who knows where.

Do yourself a big favor. Call a few extermination companies and have a couple come out to your house to inspect, explain what they have to do, and give you an estimate. Destroying the house? I don't think so.

By the way, you can purchase borax dust.

Boric acid is the powdered stuff.

Exterminators LOVE to give free quotes. Try them first. Your house doesn't need to be destroyed.

Sometimes a little demolition is needed for bees because the honey molds and you don't want that in there, but old wasp nests are just extra insulation. :)

Hi Jean, I agree with what you have said, up until, the "queen and larvae will die". don't think this is true. I have been I have done some more research and mass majority say that the queen stays with the larvae over the winter. In spring she looks for another nest and the larvae will become drones and another queen hopefully (not me hoping, but the larvae hoping) that a queen finds their nest.

Right now I have not noticed any traffic with the wasps. I sometimes think that perhaps, they have gone deep into the wall, maybe even the attic, and have found another entrance/exit.
