Could we please see a front view of your house?

The green front door is a "yes" for me too. He is an example of the green front door.

The door color is Pittsburgh Paints #503-7 " Dark Green Velvet."

The green door works with a quiet trim color. The white would be replace on the frame/trim/cornice color with Benjamin Moore #1537 "River Gorge Grey."

Also, someone mentioned that utility box; needs to be hidden with low shrubs.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the window trim colour a distraction? My eyes are drawn to the greige rather than their copper tops or the front door.

Those doors are nice, just the wrong color. I give a thumbs up on green doors.

The doors are steel though and have rust spots, we repaired once but its time to replace so I thought a different style to update things a bit would be nice, maybe letting more light in. I have had shrubs hiding the box but the city chopped them down recently saying it was against code to have shrubs so close. How about any of these?

I think the green or brownish doors would look lovely. I would bump up the trim around them though, to match your windows - the door at present seems to be separate from the rest of the house. Similar griege trim (I can't quite tell what colour it is) would tie in the doors and the windows.

I have a fiberglass door - was also not convinced I liked them - but it's been fabulous in the heat and the cold, and it looks and feels much nicer than what I expected.

Both green and brown doors would look lovely. I would bump us the trim to match the windows though - currently the doors seem separate from the windows, and they need integration.

I was also reluctant about fiberglass doors, but we have one now and it's been great for heat and cold. It also feels and looks much better than I expected.

The third door you posted would look nice. However, due to the the home I would avoid ornate work on the glass!

Something like this or similar... shame to paint wood, but the Crisp Romaine would look very pretty on this door and on the home.

Thank you all. Yes, it is a greige color. I do like the green also, in fact, I had it a similar color before this one. The last door is actually ironwork between glass. I admit I keep leaning to that one.

Yeah I agree no filigree iron work or anything else fancy. Straight simple lines.

I have the ironwork door on my home. It's a Mediterranean style home. The doors are pretty, but are they an appropriate look on your home? The doors I have are metal. If your first doors rusted, these might rust as well.

So that first door I posted, the red one, but in green? Style appropriate for the house but without the storm doors?

I don't think it's a bad look, but not the best for the style of you home. Step back and look at the windows on the front of your home and I would use that to tie in a nice looking door.

I'm confused though.. you have a double door now and want to go to a single door or keep double doors?

I would also replace your lights. They blend in with the brick too much...

Maybe matte black would be nice...

Are you planning on keeping the boulders in the landscaping?

Is it me or does anyone else find them distracting and not match by the style of the house?

I want to keep my double doors. I think they are more distinctive. I planned on rotating the lights and spraying them black, as they are quite new. I would like more light but it does get very hot and my daughter is uncomfortable with too much glass when she is home alone.

I was gonna suggest spray painting them as they look nice.... good idea!

I'd go with black or the darkest, greenishblack color you can find to pick up the verdigris , but I wouldn't do a lighter green

Also, would they let you plant some fountain grass in front of the utility box?

I had that same thing happen...I had a large viburnum in front of mine and one day I looked outside and saw them chopping it down I was so pissed... I planted some Russian sage around it.
It didn't help in the winter, though...

Can you plant something further away from that box?

Kafeenbuzd, greens look nice with red brick. I'd avoid the typical Christmas green and lean toward a different tone of green. The second one suggested above is very pretty.. As is Behr's Amazon Jungle which is a favorite of mine with red brick:

The first and 5th are more the typical. The last is too cool. Just giving you the idea of all the green that work well.

Nice green in Porter's post immediately above. It is much more modern. I think Porter has it right when she talks about 'Christmas tree green'......its kind of like Vic's Vapo Rub, we all remember it but it's a dated remedy.

I love the dark green, but it has to have an inkiness (probably not a real word!) to it.

When looking at your windows on the front of the house trying to get a door with glass that one might feel more comfortable with and give some privacy is difficult.

Being as it is Colonial and the windows are not a typical Colonial look..........

The link above shows numerous doors that would look nice on your home. This has, "pear" glass so there is privacy. They also have chord and other types of privacy glass as well as a door with a panel at the bottom vs. all glass. You can configure your own door, color, select the type of glass you want, etc.

Standard obscure glass Pella

They have 3 different types of glass that obscure. This is the least textured.

I think your only option is an obscured glass that isn't super textured similar to above. I personally don't see decorative iron on the doors with your home.

You may have a Pella near you where you can go and see the different glass or they will come to you if you tell them what you want to see.

Keep your existing doors, and add decorative door glass + a coat of fresh paint. You'll be amazed at the difference.

I really appreciate your input but I have a couple of spots rusting so have no choice. We did repair the spots couple years ago, but they have returned.
