We were in Port Charlotte for Hurricane Charlie. I put all plants that were in pots behind the shrubs were the house meet the garage. There was a right angle were the 2 walls came together. I watered them so they were well soaked and heavy. They came through fine, even though we had lost the soffits above them and about $30,000 worth of other house parts. I did a similar thing with our row boat, pulled it up near one end of the house, tied it to some bushes and filled it with water, the bushes were pretty much gone but the boat did not move.

How big were your pots? So far I have moved everything smaller than 14 inches diameter, but I have around 20 larger plastic pots surrounded by sweet potato overgrowth.

I've got a lot of things in pots and no garage or place in side to put them. So I put them in the woods next to me. This worked good for hurricane Mathew last year

I propagate plants for my Garden Club sales. I have hundreds of plants of all sizes from small to really big. They are all squished together surrounded by several big palm trees. I managed to get my three really big Taccas (Bat Plants) into the workroom and the lanai is filled with orchids and our kayaks. My other big potted plants are under a grove of plumeria right now. There is no room in our garage for any more plants. They are on their own. I just hope they don't all blow away tonight. Linda Leaf, Southwest Florida
