That's great to hear! I know you've been trying to get proper seeds for it. I hope you have many little seedlings that make it! I am hoping my little rooted cutting puts out some fruit at some point so I can do the same.

Update!!!

Today my first plant emerged. 5 weeks under plastic wrap. Now I have hope for the rest. Most citrus seeds emerge in a bit over 2 weeks; so I was beginning to worry.

Sounds good :) And since this lime is grown for the leafs, it really does not matter how long it will take to get the first flowers :)

Here they produce fruit in about 4 years; but the best makrout are grown from seed. Besides that I will have budwood for grafting in 2 years. I just have to figure out what rootstock is compatible; I tried before with the Macrophylla is use for everything else; but it was a dismal failure.

Is yours grafted? If so, do you know the rootstock? I bought one for my Son in Sacramento from FW; it is well, but quite slow growing. I would assume it is on Cuban Shaddock, but I don't know. Research has led me to believe the best rootstock for Kaffir is lime.

If from FW, yes Cuban Shaddock. I asked because there was a sucker coming out below graft line and was curious. Obviously the Kieffer does not tolerate trifoliate. I still don't know for sure if the cutting took but after several weeks it is still green. Now another is coming and will attempts to root that one as well.

Nice Susanne! Mine has no flowers yet, but is a fast grower. John, mine is not from FW, but from Harris. I do not know what rootstock it is on, but can check the tag for you.

2 more this morning; that means I should get 80% or more germination; the seeds all came from the same fruit. Hooray!

Great John! I looked but cannot find the tag for that one. I had kept - I thought - all the tags from my trees, but that one appears to be missing. I can email Ruth if you would like.
