Few fig pictures of fruit . Fruit has similar striping to panache and as fig goes thru ripening stage the white ish striping turns dark like rest of fruit unlike the panache fig which retains its stripes when ripe.
That's a beautiful fruit. The foliage appears to have a variegation pattern. Is that it's normal coloring?
My Panache has fruit that unfortunately will not ripen before the damaging frosts. It is young and set its fruit late. Its leaves are mottled when young, looking like Fig Mosaic Virus, but the mottling evens out to a clear green as the leaves mature.
Do you know if this is a normal characteristic of Panache's foliage, or does mine have Fig Mosaic Virus? Or do all Panache fig trees have Fig Mosaic Virus which results in the striping of their fruit?

Yes, the plant can revert back to all green foilage if not properly pruned. I learned how from conversation on phone from nursery owner who introduced this fig type .
He not only sold figs plants as he had a group of collectors that traveled looking for the unusual. This fig plant was found in Japan by that group he said at the time and was very expensive to purchase . At the time it arrived i took pictures to document the 6 inch leafless dormant stick, the cost on receipt and the japanese newspaper packing although it was bought in America.
The fruit is similar to brown turkey with large cavity and somewhat bland tasting on my palate but kept for its unusual foliage.
Years back i had many different fig types including panache but do not recall mottled leaves, it was discarded because the fruit here could not handle rain and humid conditions we sometimes get in autumn season and would burst open. When not spoiled because of this the fruit was very good otherwise.
