Who would have thought apricot kernel could be so deadly if ingested.

It's not really deadly, as you can see this guy has been eating them for 5 years and ain't dead yet. Like apple seeds a few is not going to kill you, it's the accumulation. Interesting that they point out in the article that the cyanide not only kills cancer cells but also healthy cells. So does chemotherapy but they don't mention that.

All apricot seeds have some cyanide in them (well it is actually a different chemical that breaks down into sugar and cyanide). If you are going to eat them, you should cook them first to get the cyanide out. Cashews have a poisonous chemical in them too, but they are cooked before they ever make it to the market (even the ones that are branded as raw have been cooked).

After I dropped a jar of Estee Lauder face cream in my sink and it cracked, I started using Apricot Kernel oil on my face. I presume it has cyanide removed. However, I would like to add it is good on skin. Health food stores sell it.
