It has dried out here too, but we aren't quite as hot as y'all---I think it was either 93 or 94 here yesterday, which is warm but not uncommon in mid-September.

We haven't had rain here since August 23rd, and I did water the tomatoes, peppers, squash, southerm peas and flowers this week. The fields are getting dry and we're starting to have more grass fires and hay field fires---not a lot yet, just a few hay bales here and a hay baler there.....but it is a worrisome trend. The bermuda grass in our yard has browned out and I'm not inclined to water it in order to green it up unless we start having more grass fires in our own neighborhood. There's no good chance of rain in our future, but I think we have a 20 or 30% chance about a week from now. With this continued heat and dryness, it is going to be a long week.

I'm glad you're getting such a good tomato harvest. Now, if only the first freeze/frost will hold off for as long as possible so y'all can keep harvesting and enjoying home-grown tomatoes for as long as possible.

That's terrific news that the plants have rebounded from the herbicide drift. Mine usually rebound, but occasionally 2 or 3 of the worst-hit plants die. I think I lost 3 back in late Spring, but I plant a lot, so losing them didn't hurt too much. I always figure l'll lose a few to drift, and that way I am somewhat mentally prepared for it when it happens.

Just picked before I head to Leedey. 24 lbs this afternoon. A 17 oz Grandma Suzy and have had a few one pound KB's. Overall many are bigger than usual around here. The only issue is many of them that set during the extreme heat have no mature seeds. i see that almost every year although this year is the worst I've seen. A pound Texas Star today also.
