IMO a design done on the internet is not worth much. Why not find a designer where you live instead.

I can't find anyone in Los Angeles for the type of style I'm looking for but maybe I haven't looked hard enough, also think it could be expensive in LA. I have some ideas and hoping to have someone create a design.

In LA you can’t find a designer then how on earth do you hope to find one to make your dreams come true online. Of course this will be pricey but honestly you need someone to see the space , get to know you personally and then work on your ideas.

If I hear the words "Modern Farmhouse" one more time I may actually scream out loud.!?

Any designer over the age of 18 can do this look.......unless they are shut off from the TV and internet. Get a local designer, and let that person into your home to see you and your space, and how you live. The best design is personal, tailored to you. Good designers can do virtually ANY style, so don't judge their portfolios for exactly your style, look for well executed rooms and a VARIETY of styles, even though they may not be your exact "modern farmhouse " dream.! You're looking for skill.

Ok thank you Jan. I live in a semi rural horse community of LA so I figured that style would fit best for my area. Anyway, I'll give it a go again to look into meeting with designers. It's all so overwhelming.

Don't be overwhelmed..... that is why you GET a designer . Look for someone who listens, and before you leap, go on Houzz and put some idea books together of rooms that speak to you.....inspire you. . You'll know when you've found the right designer fit. Just be honest about your budget, and over what period of time ....don't be afraid to state it. If images like these thrill you......show them to the designer! Design ( the career) is about interpreting other peoples dreams, and making them a personal reality

Hi Marlene. I actually do e design, using 3D renderings. Some people love e design because it helps them visualize what could be. Some of my clients have told me they actually like that a designer is not in their home. For others, they like having a designer in their home.

It really depends on your "design personality". One thing I would recommend is that whomever you choose....make sure that person is a good fit. At the minimum, look at reviews and make sure the comments reflect the type of person with whom you'd like to work.
