What a cute house! I think changing out your window treatment so it looks good on the exterior as well as your interior and working on your landscaping would make a big difference! The bushes are a bit overgrown and threaten to overwhelm your cozy cottage. Not a professional, but I think maybe a decorative tree to the left of the sidewalk and mulch or stone from the tree up to the house with some smaller scale plantings interspersed to the right of the stairs and under the bay window.

You have a wonderful house. Congratulations on owning this. I love it and would want a house like this in a heartbeat.

I have a couple of paint and landscape samples below that might work for you.

But first, a moment of truth about the paint on the house. It doesn't do a thing for the house, I think its a very sad color for this darling house. Your house needs a cool-tone paint and its wearing a warm tone.

The first and second photos are Tudor cottage style gardens that would work with your house. The first example would KEEP the overgrown bushes (please trim them down so they don't block the windows to the house) and add a small hedge of Japanese boxwood with impatiens. The second example is basically the same thing with more hedge roses. Both of these example have brick or paver walks; you wouldn't have to have brick or paver walks but I would recommend removing the concrete walk and replacing with a curved stepping stone or flagstone walkway.

Both of these houses are painted in 'cool' tones. Cool white in the first photo and a cool beige in the second. These colors would be my second choices for repainting your house. The colors will work fine on your house, but there are better choices in photos 3 and 4 below.

I think you can add so much to your house for a couple of cans of paint.

Photos 3 and 4. These are the updated color choices that will take your house from ho-hum to hum-baby. Photo 3 has the door, window trim, etc in a dark charcoal gray. The homeowner added shingles over the porch; the color is a driftwood on the shingles and the eave above the shingles. Photo 4 has everything painted navy blue. In both 3 and 4, the brickwork is not painted.

Please post pics when with your changes! I'm be excited to see the improvements. You don't have a lot to do to the house to make it look inviting and charming.
