Random Question: Hanging Baskets

I've been thinking about ways to store some fruit in my kitchen and I like the IDEA of hanging baskets, but can't tell if they would end up be annoying (swinging when you try to get things out, an intriguing play toy for the cat, a headbanger for the unaware).

Hoping someone who has already tried this can chime in with how it worked for them!

I've had a set out of absolute necessity in my previous tiny kitchen. You have to be careful not to overload the baskets and be sure to wash them every two weeks or so- they catch a lot of dust.

In my first kitchen (that would've been 400 years ago, give or take a few hundred years), due to lack of space I had a wire 3-tier basket for hanging fruits. Honestly? Never again. Fruit degraded quickly, fruit flies swarmed, baskets got gunky and needed emptying and cleaning constantly. The swinging didn't bother me, but it hung over a peninsula, and was very obstructive (kinda like playing peek-a-boo with people on the other side). I hit it a few times, but that was ok. I liked the look of it back then. Not so much now.

Lastly, I occasionally let a fruit of two go bad before getting to it.. people saw that. Now, my fruit stays in the fridge, lasts longer, and if I forget about something, it gets whisked away in secret, no one else the wiser : - )

We currently have bananas hanging from a hook under some cabinets and a basket that we keep avocados and tomatoes in, but in our new kitchen we won't have a spot for the banana hook so I was looking for a way to combine the two. I think we won't have issues with items going bad as we are used to using them, I was more concerned with swinging.

I didn't think about cleaning, would need to make sure they are easy to take down. I was looking at something like this...

I would be afraid that it would be a pain to reach into that basket worrying about putting too much pressure on it. Swinging was not a problem for my basket because it was in a corner by the sink- not out in the open. Fruit and veg do not go bad when they are out in the open in my house. They go bad in the refrigerator more often- out of sight out of mind for my kiddos.

I like that one AnnKH, but I would want a tiered fruit holder that would fit on my counter under my upper cabinets, which is an 18" height space. That 3-tier holder is 23" tall, so won't fit. I noticed the same company makes a 2-tier one that is 15" high which I think would be just right.

@AnnKH while I love the style of the baskets you picked out I am trying to get away from having a basket sit on my counter at all.
