Removing an odd smell from a condo

My new (new to me - built around 2006) condo has an odd smell throughout the entire space. It smells sort of like plastic or chemicals - not awful, but quite unpleasant. The place had been vacant for a few months, but it was left reasonably clean. I cannot figure out the source of the smell, but EVERYTHING - even the plastic totes that the owner's left - have that smell. How do I go about getting rid of it before I move my things in?

I'm assuming you have tried the obvious, like getting the windows open with some fans to blow the air around. Is it possible there was new carpeting installed before the sale and it has been off-gassing? Is the unit part of a central HVAC system? Or does it have its own system? If it's a stand-alone system, you might want to replace the air filters in the unit's HVAC.

Thank you. It does have it's own AC system. I'll have to figure out how to change the filter and try that. The carpet is new, as is the laminate floor. It might just take time ... I appreciate your taking the time to answer me.
