How deep is your vanity? And how tall is your vanity? Thanks!

Mine is 21" deep and 36" tall (like a kitchen counter). I like the tall vanity! Though when I'm in other people's bathrooms, I feel like I'm using a baby vanity by comparison, lol

    I replaced a short, older vanity with a 21" x 36". That's the standard now.

Vanities come in several heights depending on the company. The most popular are 34 1/2 high like kitchen cabinets - the finished height will be either 35 1/4 or 35 3/4 depending on the thickness of the top. Many companies still make heights of 33,32,and31.... If you are doing a vessel sink or trough sink then you should go with the lower vanity otherwise the sink is too high. As far as depth goes, the "standard" is 21" deep; however you can do 18" or 24" depending on the room you have and how close you want to be to the mirror.

Most importantly - you need to get the size that is best for your space and for your family...

    Good luck!

Depending on how big is your bathroom. Standard is 21" deep and 36" height with countertop. We also had done 24" depth in larger bathrooms

I'll be different: I like a less deep vanity. I like to be closer to the mirror, and deeper storage isn't all that useful in the bathroom. I'd stick to 18" deep. A couple years ago we were in a rented condo in Florida, and it took me a couple days to figure out just why I found the vanity /sink -- though quite nice -- a bit uncomfortable. A few days into our stay, I realized it was deeper than my vanity at home. I found myself leaning too far forward to get close to the mirror to put on my make-up, and that threw the light "off".

No argument about the height, even though I'm short.

The deeper vanity is better if you need to mount a TP holder on the vanity. 18" would set it too far back for an easy reach.

    Neither of mine are standard.

One is 17" deep (18" with counter) and 36" high.

The other is 25" deep (26" with counter) and 34.5" high.

Obviously both custom. There are specific reasons for these specific measurements.

    That's a good point.

I just finished up with the cabinet maker today for a 19" deep 34.5 tall (will have 3cm top) x 32 long vanity. My space isn't very deep and the old 21" deep one now is 1/2 from meeting the door opening. I just wanted a little more set back.

SO there you have it! Every space and person is different... You need to get the size that is best for you! We'll help with a color though if needed! lol

If you are going with an off-the-rack vanity, I like 21" deep and 34-36" high. My old vanities were 31" or something like that and even though I am short that was low. The heights were originally determined so that most people could wash their hands with their elbows slightly above their wrists, so if you were running water it would not trail backward down your arm and drip off your elbow onto the floor. People were shorter and it was also to compromise for kids, too.
