A blender?

I found a food processor to work well for shredding up food waste even if it is frozen.

I typically freeze all of my banana peels so any bugs die before I add them to the bin.

I save the food scraps in ziplock bags till ready or have enough to run that thru my big mouth juicer 800watt which I have been using for this process for years. The egg shells are in a different process. I first run them thru the microwave for about 4 min. then run them thru a food chopper , then a coffee grinder which turns it into powdery substance. It need to be that small so the worms can take advantage.

I used to shred with a cheap blender. Pain in the backside. Now I freeze my scraps, put in a closed bucket to thaw out. Once the bucket is full, in it goes , the freezing, then thawing negates the need to blend. It's a gooey mess which the worms love. My $10 coffee blender grinds my egg shells delightfully. Bonus for my worms and a calcium fix for my tomato plants. I've only been into this for a year, but simplifying things. Spring almost Summer here in Aus, so I imagine my worm farms will go beserk over the next 6 months with the warmer weather

What brand of "$10 coffee blender" do you have? I do not drink coffee, so I have no clue about such things, but I would like to grind up my egg shells. Thanks.

I do not shred kitchen scraps. I have them in a 3 gal bucket with lid outside (out of the sun) to pre-rot. 'Burnt" 2 blenders by powdering egg shells so I do it manually. Got a grain grinder from amazon for $35. Got some exercise out of it too. I do sieve it and put the coarser stuff a 2nd time through. Whenever the oven was used. I take advantage of the residual heat for egg shells. This make them brittle and easier to grind. Also hoping that this process eliminate unwanted bacteria.

Got a shredder for newspaper and thin cardboard. I use the thicker CB and corrugated CB to line the bins and once they're wet and crumbly, change with fresh ones. The old CB is very easy to rip by hand.

This is a relatively cheap coffee grinder which I got at walmart and only use it for this process.

Coffee grinders are relatively cheap. Mine was brought at a garage sale. Grinds the egg shells to dust. When it packs up will buy another cheap one. They are pretty easy to pick up new or secondhand without costing n Adam and a leg
