You don't say where you are located, Melissa. I live in North Texas and grow brugs in both containers and inground. They drop leaves (mostly I pull them off when they begin to turn yellow) during the spring and summer, but at this time of year when they bloom the most for me and the weather usually begins to turn cooler, they drop more of their leaves in preparation for winter. As long as there are new leaves emerging, I would not be concerned with the yellowing of a few leaves. Someone else may have a differing opinion, but this is what I have observed in growing them for 12 plus years. Hope this helps and happy gardening. I am certain that you will be bringing them in for the winter very soon, so I would probably wait until next Spring and then you can trim the roots a bit as well. I learned the hard way to NOT trim roots in the fall. What I would probably do is cut some of the wayward branches back (and root them in water over the winter for another plant), and give it a better shape. Also, it would not be trying to feed all those branches. I have three in containers that are going to have to have a large trim this fall (I can wait until November) and I will give those cuttings away to friends so they can have them rooted and ready to plant next Spring. Yes, and at first, all you will see are little white nubbies that will later turn into roots. They are easy to root.

Ok. I will do that. I have another question.... The sideway branch do it cut it as far down as I can? And... then take that one whole branch in water or cut it into segments? If segments how long for each. Thank you for all your help I just don't want to kill it.

It is hard to tell from the picture how long that branch is, but you can actually do whatever is best for you. Sometimes when my cutting already has a "Y" I will leave it longer than when I am just rooting to share. I always like my cutting to be at least fifteen inches or longer and I strip all the leaves except just a few on the top. Then if the cutting is really long, I will make several cuttings from it. You honestly can't go wrong on this as brugs are really easy to root and grow fast.
