Before and After - Open Kitchen and suggestion for decoration

Hi

I recently remodeled my kitchen with an open space floor plan. What do you think? What decorating tips do you have to make the space even better? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Picture are attached.

Nice improvement! The steaming coffee decals don't seem to go with the coastal feel IMO. Are you thinking window treatments? If you prefer them as is, that works too.

thanks for the suggestion! My friend told me the same thing on the coffee decals. I guess it's time to take out. :)

Any suggestion on the painting and floor vase? Should i change the color to aqua to match the pillows?

Very much impressed! Flabbergasted. Whoever saw this possibility deserves a standing ovation.

About the black vase: it combines the black living room table with the black dining room table, so it is functional in this color. I think it is best to leave it as it is, love the lining and height of it.

The painting above the sectional is nice and has the right dimensions. In my opinion you do not need aqua in it too, but of course it doesn't hurt. Some subtle aqua accents in the kitchen and dining area might combine the whole thing together. Not too much, though.

acm is right about side tables and lamps. Are those three things above the entrance to the dining room the coffee decals others complain about? They better go, give some unrest.

In my opinion you need no window treatments, since they might take away from the open feeling.

Love what you did with the stairs too.

    Once again: A+ renovation

First of all, this looks great!

    - Yep, sorry, coffee decals have to go.

    - I wouldn't put anything on the windows. I like natural light coming in.

    - I can't tell what is around the vase but maybe that can be painted or changed? I put some small yellow beads that I put around a vase and it looked really good. Just enough of a splash of color. But, I also wouldn't hesitate to paint the vase either.

    - The picture above is the sofa is nice, but I don't think it goes with the pillows or what you have on the coffee table.

    - I do like having tables on the ends so you can have a place to put drinks instead of reaching over to the coffee table.

I bet it puts a smile on your face every time you walk into that room!

Thank you all! What do you suggest I can put in the kitchen counter or island to have it pop? I think it needs some color but don't know what to have.

For the kitchen island: How about a low black piece of pottery with some low greyish green plants in there?

I personally don't like things on the counter. But I do have a crystal bowl on my kitchen island. I would try to find something like a glass, artistic bowl for the island. Not saying this matches what you have, but I think you know what I mean. Or you might want something different since you have glass vases on the coffee table.

You have a really beautiful remodeling here. It looks really amazing; great work and attention to detail!

Here is an example of a beige room with grey sofa. The art work is large and dominant and has a lot of color.

The room is beigish as is your room, but with grey rug and furnishings so a good comparison. Pick art with turquoise and one other sub dominant color. Use a lot of turquoise in possibly another small chair if the room is large enough, possibly lamps or end tables, a tree for an organic feel and a lot of aqua pillows with one small pillow in the secondary accent color in the art. See how the small red pillow brings in the red in the art, and the blue and whit Chinese seat relates to the same blue and white tones in more pillows on the sofa.....You see all of the turquoise in the room and it is needed to balance out the beige and the grey as they are adding a lot of weight to the room.

This room is all about beige and grey and only beige and grey. There is an accent wall in a deep color that you might consider for the wall opposite the long sofa side, all the accessories and griege, or clear glass and white, and silver or black metal. Pillows are done in black, grey, griege, cream, brown and white. So I really think one color should dominate and it can be any color, you just need more of it! My two cents.

I would put a much larger colorful painting over the sofa. Seems too small for the sectional. I see big and bold. The room looks wonderful and certainly love the open concept. I love the canvas wrap also. My first initial thought was the pillows and the etc. pieces need to be a little strong color, a little too pastel for me considering the overall look of the room colors.

Looks great! I would add more throw pillows of different colours for some more variety to the space. I would also add an end table beside the sectional with a table lamp over top and other decor accessories. Glad you decided to open up the kitchen! Looks a lot better and has probably added a lot more value to your home.
