So, I grew this African foxglove (ceratotheca triloba) this year and it did fantastic. In my research i read that it is known to be quite attractive to carpenter bees and indeed they were the primary insect hovering around them but the weird thing is that the bees never went inside the blossoms, they would climb up the top of the flower and probe around where it attaches to the stem and they seemed to be getting something cuz they kept coming back. I thought that maybe they were piercing the flower and getting the pollen that way but I couldn’t see any holes. Anyway, just wondering if anybody has any guesses as to what might be happening here.
