I haven't had it that long to speak for reliability, but yes, I'm happy with Thermador external dispenser. Its really useful for the kids getting their own ice and water and they drink much more water as a result. I have a 5 year warranty through my appliance store, if it breaks after that I'll deal with that when it happens I guess.

The only issue I see is for Thermador is the dispenser is in the freezer and your size limits would require either 2 x 24" units or 30" fridge and 18" freezer. The 18" freezer is really small (esp with the dispenser taking up space) and 24" is kind of tight for the fridge.

Thank you, Dr. B! I really appreciate hearing about your Thermador external dispenser - you are the first real live user I have heard from! I am trying to expand my space so I can get a 30" fridge tower and 24" freezer tower, since the 18" tower is really just a glorified ice and water dispenser, it has so little actual freezer storage space inside.

We bought the the refrigerator, freezer, wine refrigerator, 60 inch range and dishwasher. They are all pieces of poop and I would stay away from Thermador. They may look nice but the quality is quite lacking. Don’t waste your money!
