From which climate zone are you? I'm in Z5b would preto do well here and ripen at the beginning of October?

I'm in Z7A , you can get them to ripen but would need to give them a head start ,

Are your pretos somewhat smaller than black madeira and with a longer neck?

It looks a lot like my Negronne .

Preto for me is a larger fig and this year ripen about 3 weeks earlier but flavor was very similar, almost impossible to tell apart
