I just refinished my floors - sanded, bleached, with a sheer layer of stain - in my living and bedroom of a small NYC apt. I'm required to cover 80% floors for sound proofing. I purchased an area rug for the living room and I feel it's too large (9x12) and hiding so much of the gorgeous new flooring. It also now covers a part under the dining table which I worry will be hard to keep clean. The rug is a light ivory color - almost the same shades, or at least similar tones of the wood flooring. Rug was on sale so I'm not sure I can return it. Is it too big for the space? It almost feels like carpeting! Should I move it to the bedroom and get a smaller area rug for the living room instead? 8x10 maybe?
