When you say it has a "live finish" what does that mean?

Does that mean no varnish is applied and that a greenish patina will develop naturally over time?

    Hi Karlalab,

Thank you for reaching out to CopperSmith with your questions concerning our bathtubs!

Our copper tubs offer many wonderful advantages and are a superior choice to traditional porcelain, acrylic, fiberglass or other commodity materials.

Copper in its unsealed form has a natural quality known as a living finish. This unique characteristic distinguishes copper from other metals and is the primary reason why pure copper bathtubs increase in beauty as they age. Pure copper interacts with its environment and organically deepens in color and tone as time goes on. Natural or raw copper starts in a pinkish or salmon-like tone, before gradually darkening through a range of russet browns. The color will eventually stabilize in a deep and rich tone.

One of the most incredible advantages of copper is that it is naturally antibacterial, so your tub does most of the work to keep itself clean and sanitary. Copper is also registered as an antimicrobial material with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Also, there are many health benefits associated with using copper tubs. Copper has a highly therapeutic effect on both joint movement and connective tissue and can aid in reducing inflammation associated with rheumatism, arthritis, osteoporosis, tendinitis and sports injuries.

We look forward to speaking with you more about this project. Please let us know what other questions we may assist you with!

    Thanks so much,

    CopperSmith
