Do you live in a very humid tropical climate? If not..........have the REAL hardwood. This is a very cool and harder on your back selection , unless a need for it.

You said your putting it throughout the house. Are you comfortable with how it looks in your other spaces? Of the two choices you gave, I say the lighter.

The reason you are not getting many answers is because as far as being able to see on a computer monitor, neither of those floors is a great fit for your kitchen. If you were replacing laminate with vinyl plank (LVP), it would not be as big a deal to have a trendy flooring that is not so great a match because you would be removing a flooring with a limited lifespan and replacing with a flooring of limited lifespan.

However, you are removing a tile, which looks pretty good with the counters and putting down a plank tile which is a bit of a miss with the counters. Both the removal of the old tile and the install of the new tile are very expensive. You will want this new flooring to last a long time and be flexible style wise.

The overuse of gray has many concerned it will be like the harvest gold of the 70's. It is fine to use trendy items / colors in easy to change out surfaces like wall paint and rugs. If you have the income level to regularly change out expensive flooring, pick whichever flooring reads warmest.

These floors are hardwood, but you could look for a similar tone / color in tile.

Although LVP is not as high end as hardwood or porcelain tile, it is an option if you are worried about kids / dogs. I have both (kids and dogs) and love my solid hardwood, though it does need to be refinished after nearly 20 years. The LVP is supposed to stand up to dogs very well. It is softer on the legs than tile, but not nearly as long lasting - but it is also a lot less expensive.

Look for a natural medium wood toned color. It goes with both warm and cool colors and looks timeless. Those grey faux woods don't match and will look out of date in a few years
