Could this be Dallisgrass? I looked up grassy weeds and it kinda looks like it. If so what type of herbicide would work to kill it off?

Thanks

Grassy weeds in grass are hard to kill without killing the surrounding grass. You might try painting RoundUp or Grass-g-Gon onto individual blades of the weed to minimize collateral damage.

Ok how long after round up can I mow?

As soon as it dries.

IMO I would wait a few days after roundup to mow. Glyphosate works by being absorbed by the leaves so mowing off part of the treated leaves would make it somewhat less effective. I'm not positive that what you have there is dallisgrass.

It would take me a month to paint each weed. It's so fine it would be difficult to apply. Anything else I could do?

Zero weed seed, yeah right. It's popping up everywhere!!

Do you have any Tenacity? Perhaps worth spot spraying a few of these weeds to see if they react and start turning white / bleached. If so, then follow up with a second application.

Thx Zeus that was my next question. I do have Tenacity. I will try. The new grass is only 3 weeks old. Is it too soon? I mowed once

Reading through Tenacity label (page 13), "Avoid spraying on newly germinated turfgrass. Wait unit newly germinated turf grass has been mowed two times or four weeks after emergence (whichever is longer) before making a postemergence application".

I'd wait until you meet one of the two conditions, which, shouldn't be more than another week for you. I applied Tenacity on my 100% blend KBG test post-plot @ 4 weeks and some of my germinated grass got bleached tips. Wasn't a big deal to me as the turf it grew threw it with my weekly spoon feedings of urea.

Thanks again Zeus! I plan on taking a sample to my local extension office to get the weed identified. Hopefully Tenacity works.

I heard of people painting round up, I tried today with an artist paint brush n it was so tedious and the weed is so thin it kept flopping over.
