Its a SanDisk Clipsport. I know its old technology. But it has all the music I like. Will get the Aux cable. Thanks

Another alternative approach that would be easier to use in the car, letta, would be to transfer copies of your music files to a thumb drive (they're cheap) and plug THAT into the USB socket. No need to charge it periodically and always there. Accessed using the USB source selection in your audio system. (I hope you have duplicate copies of files on the Clipsport, hopefully on a PC and/or other hardware)

Shhh, just between you and me letta, I have several of those myself and several others of other brands. I'm a voracious podcast and audio book listener and they're perfect to use when walking the dog and exercising at the gym.

Yes. I just figured that out and am transferring music into a thumb drive right now. Wish I had checked with site earlier and saved myself time and frustration. I am a senior and kind of slow to adapt to new technology.. or maybe just reluctant. Thanks for your help.

Bossyvossy, playing music in a car from a thumb drive or SD card (some cars take one, the other, or both), assuming the music files have accurate embedded tags (Title, artist, album, genre, etc) plus album art, should look and have the same controls as playing them on an iPad/iPod/iPhone, or their equivalent Android device or program on a PC. You should be able to choose a playlist by Artist, by Album, by Genre, or a prepared playlist or playlist of everything. I have thumb drives in a Toyota, a VW, and a BMW (all less than 3 years old) and they all look and behave pretty much the same. I've plugged them into rental cars of various other makes and the same has been true. Fast forward or back, skip forward or back, play again, shuffle play, or play in order, etc.

Letta, I have used Sandisk Clip mp3 players for YEARS. I love them. I use them running and at the gym, as they are so small and I can put exactly what music I want on them. I have an older car all I have is a audio plug to use to connect my mp3 to the Aux input, but that works great. I use a USB charger to charge it in the car, and the 3.5mm cable to connect for audio. Easy peasy. Charger cables do go bad after a while, so you probably just need a new one.
