looks good to me. i'm not digging the small gold pillows (it relates to nothing in the room) ,,and those chairs really don't need it.. but other than that, i like it

oh,,if i have to be super super picky, I'd say the art over the FP could be bigger. That one works, but it's a tad small. you could do a really cool black n white pic w/a hint of that fuchsia . love those colors

I'll chime in here with this: You have strong rustic elements along with rather contemporary architecture, yet you have chosen to introduce classic elements like the gold patterned pillows, the crystal chandelier and the traditional side table and high wing back chairs and the global pattern found in the area rug not to mention the neo-classical art over the fireplace.

Eclectic design can be tricky. You need to make a concerted and conscious effort to connect all the elements in a pleasing and cohesive manner.

I would advise you to pretty much empty the room and then only bring back in the things you absolutely ADORE.

If it were my space, I would def replace the round side table (too tall, too traditional), I like the rustic table with the global area rug. The color scheme is working well except for the gold accents. I think the art over the fireplace works very well and I would keep it if it sings to you. I think the tall wing back chairs are a miss here. If you desire, introduce pink pillows to play off the cool floral arrangement, if not, keep it monochromatic. The large mirror does not make sense as others have pointed out.

I also would like to see stained glass or window film over those two high little windows.

Is there a reason you have not placed the sofa facing the Fire Place?

I like it, think you are almost there. I agree art over fireplace either needs to be moved up a bit higher but ideally, I'd move it to wall on the left where all there is is that sconce and put some art with color that would pop over fireplace and that is larger. But I think it looks really nice, just fine tuning. Bravo!

Sometimes, you have to take things away to get proper look. Take the big mirror away. Put sofa on wall. Put round table on far end of sofa so flowers aren't reaching out to grab people. Hot pink is your accent color. Great art over fireplace but just with touches of color. I am thinking of a pair one on top of the other for height impact. Take away gold pillows and add black and white pillows instead. Great house and space. Bbl with some art suggestions.

I couldn't duplicate your furniture but used similar pieces just to give you the idea of switching the arrangement of sofa and chairs. One round table could go between chairs, and I do like these chairs better than your wing backs, but the wingbacks are nice. I also like the glass globes but I think you need something softer on the coffee table. All hard surfaces make things a bit sterile. I put an interesting soft and subtle wallpaper with some silver on the wall behind the sofa and added a couple sculptural wall hangings with some mirrored effect but not a lot. I added two paintings above the fireplace bringing the color of the flowers above the fireplace, but you could do the white and black up there as well, but you need height. I suspect you have bought the new chandelier, but I think something that centers over the conversation area and has a bit of bling might be interesting. Just some options to consider. Mainly change the furniture arrangement and art over the fireplace would make best low cost effort.

The touch of wood on the chairs repeats your black accents around the doors which ties these elements together. Here is the type pillow for your chairs that would tie to the rug. either of these would work well. These are available at Arhaus.com

Its a lovely room and you did a good job with it . But is that a mirror on the left wall facing the couch ? If so why ? And if so its out of place ...or put it higher and put a table in between the two chairs or a bench in the same fabric as your chairs ....
Whatever it is its too low in my opinion and doesn't belong
Otherwise it looks great ...
The other option is to change the couch and chairs to face each other and not look at the wall ...

Bigger artwork above the fireplace and replace golden cushions with something like this.

As everyone says.....couch against the wall with mirror horizontally and the chairs on the other side. It will open up the whole room. Larger piece of art work with some color that is a WOW over the fireplace. You can possibly keep the pillows on the chairs depending if it ties in with the new art. You can get rid of whatever is underneath the coffee table! But overall it's a great looking room.....good job!

I vote reversing layout. Forget the style question for now. It looks like a good space and good furniture you just have it all in a nonsensical direction!

Mirror over the fireplace vertically, sofa on long wall chairs opposite and ONE color on pillows in all degrees of color on sofa but not chairs, art over the sofa, really big. to balance the tall chimney and the tall ceilings in the house. No dinky here.

What a lovely room you have. We think bringing a little more color in will help. Flo and celerygirl seem to be on the right track with positioning and art. Maybe place the sofa against the wall and find some art you love with a pop of color? Also maybe get some more pillows with a little flair.
