About Us

Within the walls of my company, I am principal, chief cook, head bottle washer and lead designer. Within the walls of my home, I am a mother of 4 kids under twelve, a wife to an exceedingly tolerant husband, a recovering perfectionist, field-trip slip forgetter and “make your own lunch” taskmaster. I grew up running around auction houses, remodels and new builds. My mother was a designer. Field trips included antique showrooms, fine art houses and the power tool section of Home Depot. To this day, I am most happy at a workbench building and creating DIY projects or painting abstract landscapes of places I like to visit in my mind while the kids create chaos in my house. As a know-it-all teen, I felt sure I would never follow in mom’s footsteps until my NYU college roommate patiently (not patiently) asked me to stop re-arranging our dorm room furniture for the umpteenth time. I enrolled in classes at Parson’s School of Design in NYC the following year and never looked back. I am inspired by architecture and people. Interior Design connects the two and sets the stage for our stories. I get to take the unforgettable moments and memories of your home and your family’s story and turn them into permanent reminders that inspire you every-time you walk in the door. That’s the rush for me. I don’t design, build or create for everyday perfection because in my world it doesn’t exist. My job is to make spaces functional in their layout, comfortable in their use, inspirational in their style and luxurious in their appointment. In that order. For that one moment after installation, the pictures are perfect. The house is immaculate. Then, it gets lived in. That’s what a house is for. Life is messy. Kids are messy. Design should be practical before it’s pretty. I call it Live-able Luxury. That’s my vision, my style and my goal for you.

We love all our CTD spaces! They're livable and beautiful. Courtney and her team took the ideas swirling in our heads and made them a reality. Remodels are never simple or straight-forward but with CTD the process was transparent and turnkey. That meant I could focus on all the other things needing my attention knowing CTD was handling the details of our project with our best interests at heart.

Perfection! I worked with Courtney through her virtual design service on an out of state project. Without even seeing the space in person, Courtney was able to come up with two beautiful plans for our living room area. Utilizing everything from her presentation that included floor plans, layouts, color schemes, photos, design inspirations, and more, I was able to take a challenging room and make it a beautiful space. It was exactly what I needed. Not only does Courtney have a gift, but she and her team are easy and enjoyable to work with. I would not hesitate to work with her again.

I Have Met Courtney, And Julie Through a Mutual Client , and so glad i did. These girls have made , the bathroom remodeling project i was working on so easy.. They would be there for any question i had , to keep the project rolling. They had done all the foot work , and picked out all the finish materials, they came up with a spec book listing all fixtures, and ideas down to cabinet knobs. I have worked with many designers in the past , but never had a chance to work with this level of professionalism. Once we finished the 2 bathrooms at my clients house, which turned out spectacular, Courtney had asked me to be part of her team working on the Pasadena showcase house . That was another blast. Courtney has essentially taught me the value of a beautiful living space. When I had first graduated from school, she took a shoestring budget and transformed my apartment filled with hand me down furniture into a curated, magazine worthy visual feast. I could not believe her creativity, from scouring Craigslist on my behalf to personally sawing off the legs of an old dining table and painting it to make me a coffee table that looked "found" before "found" was in. So of course I called her when I bought a home so she could walk me through my commitment anxieties. She has an uncanny ability to take my general taste and aesthetic and make those concrete while also offering ideas that I would never have considered. And on top of that, she is just a riot of a human being and a delight to be around. Could not recommend her more highly!

Ali - You do me a great honor. Thank you. I loved that first apartment. I still remember how fun it was to flex my creative muscle and how game you were to let me. Ha! I had forgotten about the coffee table. Do you recall the breakfront I found at a consignment store for your kitchen that was the exact size of that alcove? You needed more countertop space so badly, I was prepared to leave you with 2 saw-horses and a piece of plywood until I found the perfect piece. I was so relieved to find it in time for the final reveal, I almost left my purse behind moving it to my car. L.A. misses you. I hope we find ourselves on the same coast soon.

When I first met Courtney, we were knee-deep in an addition that included all the family bedrooms (4) and bathrooms (4), and a laundry room and mud room. I am the type that I kind of know what I like, but I definitely know what I don't like, and I desperately needed a designer's help and advice! Courtney was able to distil my abstract ideas, magazine pictures, items I already had, and trips to showrooms into exactly what my family and I wanted, including an elegant master suite with his and her's walk-in closets and a bathroom that rivals the most exclusive resorts. (Seriously, every time my husband and I travel, we measure the hotel bathrooms agains our own master bath and they rarely come even close to what Courtney designed for us.). The best part about working with Courtney was that she got me and my family. She understood what our busy family of five needed, and what we didn't. She truly LISTENED to our wants and designed for US. All of the rooms in our house that she has touched have an easy, natural elegance; sophisticated in their style, but are completely livable in their space. Not to mention, her sense of humor kept me going through the very long remodel process. For that I am eternally greatful. I cannot speak highly enough of Courtney Thomas and her design team.
