ranunculus in zone 10?

I'm curious if anyone has experience planting ranunculus "bulbs" in zone 10. I've ordered a bunch and love the flowers and now am reading that they will be lovely for a year and likely not grow again. Can someone support or refute that? (fingers crossed that mine might be okay!). I live in Pasadena, CA and we have lost much of our winter chill hours- I hope that doesn't hurt them.

Ranunculus can't freeze or it dies. It likes cool weather. It's an annual here 7a), and you plant it (in bloom, unless you have a greenhouse) in late march and rip it out when it starts looking miserable from the heat, usally late June/July.

Were you able to get your ranunculus to rebloom the next year? I also live in Pasadena and wondering if I need to dig them up after their blooming season or I can just leave them in the ground. Thanks for your input!

Altadena and Sierra Madre get some chill - benefit of the mountains right behind them. A bigger problem for a lot of bulbs in So Cal is water - too much h water. After they die back post bloom, our warm weather added to water is a recipe for rot...
