Keeping all that gold makes it difficult, but what about a medium gray since you like cool colors and then change out the lamp shades on the chandelier to match the walls and further incorporate the color into the room. You could continue to incorporate the color through changes to the centerpiece and wherever else possible in the room...placemats, area rug, etc

Well, my suggestions would be for a fabulous gold textured wall paper, like this from Schumacher, or you paint a tone on tone gold wide stripe running vertically.

I have a colour in my bedroom called Smoke by Benj Moore. It is a cool greyish blue. I love it so much.
