Doing the dirty job this week and next.I forgot to take a picture of the before. This is the second phase of the redecorate. This is below a window. That was replaced a couple of years ago. This is solid so maybe leave it or Bondo. Rubber back/foam back carpet. Everywhere. This room is much worse than the 1st room. I'll scrape some off but since it's going to be covered with plywood I won't go nuts on it.

And then we have the stairs. Sigh. But they weren't as bad as I expected. Just as much residue left but they had tile that peeled right off. I'm sure it was probably the asbestos stuff but since it lifted right up and was pliable I didn't worry about it. And the wind tunnel through the house that day probably sent everything outside. I'm planning 2 days to take out staples. I'm going to face these with 1/4 plywood. My house was built in 1880. It has survived lots of updates. Rubber back carpet was the last one. It was here when I moved in and no doubt was old then. It still looked pretty good but so hard to clean I decided to get rid of it. I'll scrape off the thin backing that's stuck to the risers. The yellow foam is gone along with the tile it was stuck to.
