I have them too, no other insect pests as well. I do not understand the draw either.

The only time I have had issues with ants was on the trees that had scale problems. They come after the surgery sap that the scale cause by sucking. Check and see if you have any sap leakage or sucking pests.

Thanks Sammers and John! You are right John, I inspected the tree in the afternoon today and noticed only 1 ant on the tree. I checked on the other plants in the same area near the Meyer.. I have a small mum that's been neglected and dying. I finally took a look at the mum plant and noticed it had ants too and under the leaves were many many green aphid's! It looked horrifying. I didn't know what to do so for now I put it in a closed off area a bit far from the Meyer. I wanted to step on the mum and crush all the aphid's but there were so many, the idea of all of their guts sticking to the bottom of my sandals was too gross!

Kvetch, this summer I had ants in my basil plant and some on my Meyer lemon near it. I made a very strong mix of hot chili pepper powder and water, sprayed the plants, the soil and the pots all over, even on the bottom and they were gone for good.

Correction Kvetch, it was cayenne pepper powder, sorry!

thank you sunshine! I took a look at the spice rack and had crushed red pepper or cayenne pepper powder. I was going to pick the crushed peppers but I'll def go for the cayenne now

Sunshine I'm going to use that mix for the house! I usually do soapy water but have to keep spraying.
