The Miseno Toilet looks just like the Kohler Memoirs. I personally would spend the extra money to get the known brand for the toilet.

The sink isn't as important as there are no moving parts.

I would go for the Kohler but on build.co, the Miseno has more reviews and most 5 stars, compared to a lot of complaints about the Kohler Memoirs.

People have poorer expectations for crapola. They are always surprised when it lasts past 15 minutes. If two identical items perform similarly, people will give the cheaper one higher marks, even if it doesn’t last as long or perform as well over the long term. All anyone is interested in these days is superficial appearance for the next 15 minutes if TV time.

I feel like Miseno might be a brand made up for resellers. A miseno branded product I just found is clearly made by Ove decors.

Miseno is exclusive to Build.com, an online retailer of plumbing supplies. i.e. it's likely a private label (manufactured elsewhere but labeled under the retailer).

American companies like to use Italian/European names to sound more expensive. e.g. Danze, which is an American brand.

Decent looks and build quality, slightly cheaper because there isn't much brand name to it.

I've used them for products that don't require much marketing (drains, lower level fixtures, etc). But their prices in 2018-2019 have risen a lot, likely due to trade war supply chain issues.

Always study the 1-2 star reviews for the issues. Some private labels are OK, some aren't. Toilets have been an issue. Three of four private label toilets in my summer completion were delivered with broken and poorly installed valves, all had to be replaced. One was leaking from the connection due to a poorly tightened valve. Fortunately, it didn't damage the floor.

Should a builder warrant a manufactured brand's defects?

Definitely not. The brand should (hopefully) have transferable warranty.

Build.com has been good about sending immediate replacements even outside of the typical 30/60/90 day warranty period. More likely because I'm a repeat customer with a dedicated sales rep.

Wayfair.com is another very popular online retailer but they grew too fast, serious quality issues. They've been prompt about replacements within warranty period but not outside of it, didn't matter if I had high preferred buyer status. Always unbox and check the product upon delivery.

For most defective items (esp large ones like sinks/vanities/etc) they told me to chuck them since there's no way they wanted it back .... makes you wonder how much money they are losing on this ...

Once installed, replacement labor is the issue, significantly more than a cheap sink.

where are the mesino products manufactured. Designed and put together in the US, but where are the parts coming from?

2021 perspective: We've had excellent service & support from both Ferguson & Build.com with all brands they sell from well priced house brand to high end manufacturers. They are knowledgable, reliable & vet their products.

Cannot say the same elsewhere.
