I have a wonderful infestation of Springbeauty that dominates my 2 acres of lawn each spring, a beautiful sight -- the local newspaper featured my cover of spring "snow" of white flowers. The flowers disappear when the grass is getting a bit overdue for its first spring trimming and I've enjoyed a peaceful coexistence with the grass. In recent years Red Deadnettle has taken hold seemingly appearing on the same schedule as my beautiful Claytonia virginica, choking it out in places. I was thinking of a granular preemergent in the fall to control the Deadnettle -- and you've probably guessed my question: will that impair my decades-old Springbeauty crop? I was thinking of Isoxaben or a combination with Trifluralin (Preen). FWIW, I understand the Springbeauty grow from a corm. Would they survive those preemergent chemicals?
