Repotting should be fine, and should not cause any issues with new growth, so long as you are careful not to smoosh or whack the new growth against anything. In otherwords, if you are not a klutz, like me, you should be fine.

For taking cuttings with very long vines of leafless new growth, the results are a mixed bag. MOST of mine do just fine, but they always seem to lose the newest 1-3 nodes, which is really no issue.

Some of the pickier ones will eventually lose any leafless new growth.

I'd wait a bit, for KQ to fill out. If you want the vine that you plan to use for pot-fillers to put more effort into leafing out so you can cut it, pinch or cut the very last node (growth tip). I have had success with encouraging leaf output, instead of vining out, using the pinch or cut method.

I'll bump the new leaves, don't you worry.. sigh.

The long vine on the KQ is putting in leaves as it goes. Maybe I'll wait a while until the leaves mature a bit more? This is my poor neglected plant and now I'm being nice to it, it feels like being nice to me :D Part of me wants to leave the long vine in case I get flowers but I think the plant is many years off from that stage so I'm probably better off chopping it now.

The base of the plant is filling out a bit now. Last Summer there were a few too many white leaves coming in and no new growth elsewhere so I cut off (most) of the white ones and the plant has started to regrow new leaves and shoots where the white ones were. But I'd still like a few more cuttings in the pot. To hide the horrible abused older leaves, if anything...

Repotted my bordenii... only knocked off two new leaves. Whoops!
