after 10 mins of research.. i discovered you are talking about viburnum ...

in deep shade ... no sun .. vigor can be seriously impacted ... and it can 'show' by improper growth ... which might make ID harder ..

how deep is the shade?

can you provide pix?

Thank you for replying. I should have remembered to give the Latin name, sorry. We purchased these in 2013. Here is a picture I took at 4:30 showing the first sun they received all day.

The 2 shrubs are the shiny ones on the left and are shaded by tall native pecans the rest of the day.

Viburnum prunifolium are native to my woods. They grow in both sun and shade, more open in shade.

Shade is one thing. Competing for water with large established trees us another. The combination is a very hard nut to crack. Fortunately, there is a simple solution: supply supplemental water as needed.

So what is your problem with how they are growing? Because the pictures you posted show no overt problems.

Mainly, I want them to bloom. They have been where they are for 4 years and one has never bloomed. The other had so few blooms I didn't notice it the fruit showed. I'd also like some fall color at least on which ever one is the Rusty Blackhaw.
