leaf problem on Bpl. Golden Peacock 'Orange Beauty'

Can you tell me how to avoid future leaf problems on this orchid? I cut one leaf off where the leaf was similarly damaged.

Also, how can I encourage it to produce more blooms. It was rescued from a big box store about 8 months ago. This month it has produced one flower stalk with 4 buds and no others since my rescue. It spent the summer outside in light shade and has been indoors since September (western Pennsylvania).

That looks like slug or snail damage to me.

As for getting more flowers, it may produce more as it gets older and bigger. It will depend on the health and genetics of the plant.

Do not cut off any green leaves. Even if they have spots like in your photo. That is not disease but some sort of mechanical damage or sunburn. If you want lots of blooms, you need all the leaves you can get.

Thanks, Jane. It could be sunburn, through a window. The leaf I cut off was just hanging. I'll leave this one unless it deteriorates and flops over.
