Curtains to the brown!

The painters just completed transforming my family room / sunroom from a dingy brown to a light and bright room filled with SW Repose Gray. I LOVE it.

For the last 5 years, I have been switching out cheap curtains until I got the rest of the room in the way I wanted. So now that I have paint I love, furniture I love, I want curtains that will delight me.

For me, the purpose of curtains is to soften the square windows, add privacy, and for heating / cooling efficiency. But I'm not sure what color direction I want to go. The white ones on there just fade away. What would look good? Dark, light, solid, pattern? What color?

Any advice is appreciated!

I would use something a little heavier than you already have.

I would personally go with a floppy lined Belgian linen in a flax linen tone... Make sure your curtains touch the floor most important. I personally am not a fan of print in most cases and appears your chairs are gray? couch is very light as in off white? Then you introduced yellows and your fireplace is a warm tone. I'd do a Belgian flax linen for texture and the tiny bit of warmth if offers as your fireplace is warm in tone.

Be sure you measure the distance from how they are hanging, whether from rings or via the pocket so they do touch the floor and are not to short. To me that is a important to make your curtains look nice in a room no matter what you select.

Very hard to say as the color of your walls are? Appears a light cool gray tone?
