It;s a first bloomer. Give it another year then decide. It "could" improve and give you more nice normal looking petals next year. I have bloomed clivia seedlings from multipetal crosses that improved with age. Feed it well and keep cool. If it does the same...well...

As for my throaty flower, I most likely will give it another chance, 4 flowers would certainly help as the color is pretty enough and it is fragrant....besides, there is another seedling in the pot!!☺☺

Thanks!! I will wait and I will say that this flower is highly fragrant!! You don't have to search for the aroma, it's right there!! (no, it doesn't small like cat pee ☺) I can imagine that with 4 flowers, it might be quite acceptable!! ;-))

Donna, I'm glad you are starting to like it a little more now :-)) It would be better as a single flower but It is still nice and if it is really fragrant... The shape reminds me of Jewel a little. I actually like it more than the parents but I'm not a fan of doubles at all.

Yes, Anja, she is reminiscent of Jewel, I had forgotten as it's been several years since I've had one.

Here is one last picture as she has come into her final shape. The fragrance is amazing and I think I can say that other than my EBay # 1 from North Carolina (vittatum hybrid of sorts) this is my second (maybe first) most fragrant hippi, it's amazing. The color is very bright so I guess she will stay. Hopefully another year, there will be 4 flowers.

Donna, try it pollinating double-flavored varieties. If it succeeds, half the seedlings will be completely double. In addition, it can also be with flavor.

Thanks for the suggestion Oleg, but my last flower just faded but next time I'll try that!! Perhaps with Dancing Queen the queen of doubles with usually with plenty of pollen and if I remember correctly, she has some fragrance doesn't she??
