How do you keep the splinters away?

Hello, I have been wanting to use old barn wood as a wainscot but was worried about splinters and having the wood flake off. Do you put some sort of a glaze or something on it to prevent that?

Hello, Thank you for looking. We have had many successful wainscot installations over the years. A light sanding will usually take care of the splinters and there are numerous finishes that can be applied to seal the material. I would be happy to talk you through some options. Please feel free to call the office anytime at 406-763-9102.

Along with a light sanding I find that a light well rubbed in coat of bees wax does the trick and it is organic and safe in your home.

    Hello,

Lumber in general can give you splinters. Sanding will help to reduce this risk. There are many different types of finish that can be applied once the desired surface texture has achieved. Please feel free to give us a call if you would like specific information regarding your project. 406-763-9102

    Thank you,
