Standalone backsplash behind range

We are buying a house with a 20-year-old kitchen that we plan to live with for at least a few years. The one thing I don't like, though, is the outdated tile backsplash behind the stove. There is no other tile in the kitchen; there is just a large square of tile stuck right onto the painted wall. It looks something like this, if the black square is the backsplash (it has a harvest fruit painting on it) and the rest of the wall is painted.

I would like to replace it with something more modern but am having trouble finding pictures of a standalone tile backsplash (not integrated into a larger wall of tile). Can you help me with images of what this would look like? We want something simple and cheap since we'll probably be replacing it in a few years. But I don't think I can live with the harvest fruit themed tile, and it seems like a bad idea to eliminate the backsplash entirely.

thanks!
