Don’t have the ceilings textured, for sure. Textured walls can look okay, if done properly, but if you think you ever will sell, smooth walls, too.

That said I would never texture either.

Cons to textured include that they're scratchy to the touch (read: when carrying heavy things up and down stairs), hard to repair invisibly (any time you need to fix an outlet or add insulation or whatever), and look a bit dated in most parts of the country. Pros, I guess, are that they're more forgiving of fast and sloppy installation.

Don't texture ANYTHING. Buy a fuzzy throw, a crunchy pillow........some linen curtains. Just don't do it.
