Candice, I believe that Mary does or used to keep hers inside of her garage for winter and I though she was doing this out of pots, bare root. Best let her tell you if this is the case.

The smaller plants would be the most difficult to keep bare root, without light for extended periods of time.

I put some 1yr. - 2yr. Old plants in there pots on a lower shelf I have and I lost a few and the others managed alright.

Candice, get something like this. It has 4 shelves and each can hold at least 4 mature plants. This is what I have in my bedroom. I know it’s kind of weird to keep plants in a bedroom but I’ve ran out of room. My living and dining rooms are all occupied by my big tropical fruit trees like avocado, lime, tangerine, grapefruit, papaya and banana.

I don't know how much space you need, versus what you can spare, but you could consider planting them in a community pot if you don't have too many.

Larger plants can be deleafed and hung in your windows like they do in Asia. Smaller ones I agree with the others, you may wish to keep potted up. Especially seedlings. Good luck with it!
