We will be building soon my island will be 6’ long with a 4’ drop down dining table. The stove will be in the island and hood over head. I originally wanted pendant lights but now not sure
Any suggestions. Maybe a larger hanging light on each side of hood and one over table?

Do you have any drawings, pictures? I dont undertand what you mean by "a 4' dropped down dining table". Lighting over the table is important and usually more decorative like a pendant. The lighting over the work surface can be recessed downlights if centered over the counter, so as not to cast shadows. The hood likely has lighting in it as well.
