They are legs to screw on to a piece of wood to make a foot stool.

What to do with these? Why not make another footstool?

Create a platform for a large potted plant?

Of course another footstool is always an option and I may end up going that route. Once the wood is placed, batting and the fabric wrapped around, there's an overhang and these are very low to the ground so you really don't see them at all. Which I think is sad because they're very cool looking. I'm trying to think of something to do with them that elevates them so you can actually see what they are but that may not work. Thanks for thinking this through with me.

If you make another footstool or a plant platform, make the wood piece smaller so the supports are more visible

viola that's a fantastic idea - it could even be a serving 'tray' of sorts for cheeses or desserts! Thank you for the suggestion.

They look very similar to the base parts of my antique sewing machine (legs for the foot rest)... I'd guess that's where they came from originally.

Since I need a shelf across the back of my desk, I would use them to make a shelf. I'd get a "board"of heavy glass as long as my desk is and mount it to these legs.

Another great idea for layered work space.

Because these are level across the top, it could be used as a step stool by bolting a strong piece of plywood across the tops of the stands. However, it would be heavy and unwieldy.

I haven't done anything with these yet but am still partial to viola's idea and have a perfect place on my kitchen counter in front of a window. When I get this figured out I promise to post a picture.

You can go to glass shop, get a square or rectangular piece and have them drill holes so you can attach your legs. Even easier if you use lexan/acrylic. Would be quirky to combine modern top w/old timey legs. Then place a vase on top.

I like that idea! But they were always legs for a foot stool never part of a sewing machine....I would really like to see a foot stool....doesn't have to be a large ovr hang...just a little stool for a short lady to rest her feet on.

Could hang them on the wall way they are in 3rd pic staggered a little as a coat rack. Would stand out from wall enough that you could put your gloves behind the coat. I just redid an old round footstool as I put my feet up when I'm on computer, much easier on my legs! Wrought iron legs are now brown & leaf on top of each leg is decorated with gold paint & a light brush of gold down the legs. Top is a gold / brown heavy fabric! Looks great!
