This is what the living room looked like before.

And this is the bookcases with decor in them. I'm just waiting for the paint to cure before keeping everything in there.

The dark works, so it's just what you like -- if it feels cozy, then keep it, while if it feels dark and small, then paint lighter. No rush to decide, as walls are so much easier than everything else.

Nice updates. Would add some books to the shelves when you get to finalizing things!

i like the dark too, it works as there isnt a lot of it.

Hm...I guess I prefer a lighter wall (but in a different color) since the ceilings seem low and the dark wall makes the room appear smaller, compact, and tighter.

My first thought was exactly what rcarterworld posted. I would go lighter.

I like the contrast from the white built-ins but I would recommend going lighter. It will make the room feel bright and fresh. The furniture you incorporate into the room will add the warmth and coziness. Think soft textural throws and even some living plants. I'd also recommend that your sectional sofa sit on the rug instead of a few inches away. Good luck!

Really love the dark walls. Like everyone else have said, the contrast from the dark walls to your white cabinets is very pleasing to the eye. I would shift your rug under your sectional a little more so it will help frame the sectional and it feels apart of one union. Great job!
