I had some excellent help adding elements to my living space (hats off to all who contributed). Now I really need advice on how to finish out my room. I've never really finished out a space before. Pretty much just added furniture and then lived in it. Now I really desire to add those elements that bring a room together and make it feel complete.

The lamp will be replaced by two floor lamps on either side of the sofa. The rest of the furniture is either new or I'm partial to, except the desk. I bought this one a couple of weeks ago, and although I really like it, I'm struggling with wanting a more modern feel to my room rather than a traditional one. I was looking at replacing it with the black and gold desk pictured but my husband totally hates this look. So, is there a desk chair or desk accessories that will help the current desk feel more modern?

Bottom line, it's ok to change the desk but I just don't want to make a rash decision because I actually chose the desk cause I liked it. That changed after getting it home. All finish out ideas are welcome!
