How do I clean mold from furniture and clothes?

Background: We recently discovered mold growing in most of the rooms in the house we are renting. After bringing people out to inspect it, they said it was mostly due to poor ventilation and the humid climate we've had this summer/fall. They recommended we move out and get our belongings professionally cleaned before we move them into a new home. We've talked to insurance and they will not cover any of the damages so we're looking at other options.

Question: Does anyone here have experience with cleaning moldy furniture or items? We are prepared to throw away some of the items but some of them have sentimental value. We've found mold growing on the following items, that we would need cleaned before we can move/store them:

  • Drop-leaf table (wood)
  • Coffee table (wood)
  • Night Stands (wood)
  • Dressers (wood)
  • Standing Mirror (wood)
  • Clothes
  • Picture Frames

We're reading mixed reports of what solutions work on this. Some say that mold cleaner or bleach will work, while others say that cleaning with that will only release more mold spores into the air. It is getting into winter in the Ohio Valley so for us to lean this outside is quickly diminishing.
I'd appreciate any feedback or experience that anyone has had dealing with this. I'm just looking for someone who has cleaned mold off of wood or clothes and had it not come back. Thanks!
