I have "Twilight" and "Teatime." They belonged to my mother-in-law. One has a label from Shreve's Jewelers. Probably the one here in San Francisco; not sure if there was a Shreve's in Portland, Oregon, where they lived.

Times change...I find that sad....because they are charming and beautiful!
My nephew is trying to sell doo dads from his mother's estate....currently he has listed a Hummel with a 1950's backstamp.....likely he won't get $10 for it....so sad.

They really are, my kids are all in their 20's and have zero interest in anything antiques so I constantly tell them what pieces are worth what so they don't end up in a dumpster lol I bought some photo albums from the early 1900's at auction for basically nothing because my heart was breaking that they even ended up in an auction. So sad.

Chris and Linda, it is sad . . . thankfully, my daughter likes the Doultons (and has a small collection of her own) so I think they will always be loved.

Chris, she bought her first one in England at the potteries when she was 12 or 13. It was her remembrance from the trip. Others have been gifts for important occasions in her life.

What wonderful stories which add to their rich histories. I remember a as child loving the vibrant colours and always wanting to play with them but obviously not being able to as they were Gran's treasures. My father was an only child and my mom was not a Doulton fan so they all came down to me. My daughter is expecting in January so perhaps the new granddaughter will some day be the beneficiary :)
